HISTORY OF THE CMAI GROUP
Like other great stories, the construction of the CMAI group comes from an entrepreneur, who one day transformed an intuition into a tangible and lasting economic reality.
Since its creation in 1981, the Group has continued to grow and diversify into the activities of interior fittings for all rooms of the house.
THE CMAI GROUP ACQUIRES 100% OF THE CAPITAL OF SANRAFAEL AND PUERTAS CASTALLA, SPECIALISTS IN DECORATIVE INTERIOR DOORS IN SPAIN.
Founded in 1986, Sanrafael develops, produces and markets to a network of distributors, resellers and installers, in Spain and internationally, decorative interior doors of all types of high-end finishes, in standard and custom sizes, intended for residential or tertiary environments.
Founded in 1989, Castalla develops, manufactures and markets in Spain and internationally decorative interior doors of medium and high-end finish, intended for the residential environment, through specialized dealers or the large DIY distribution.
This merger creates a new European Group, with 1,100 employees and a consolidated turnover of around € 140m (2019).
It will enable CMAI to acquire the know-how and resources necessary to pursue its growth strategy in the field of interior doors in France, successfully initiated in 2018.
NEW INVESTOR PARTNER FOR THE CMAI GROUP
With the takeover of Qualium Investissement's stake, ICG becomes the reference shareholder of the CMAI group.
Through this new stage, the group is pursuing the path of its product and service development policy, while respecting its founding values.
AGEM ACQUIRES 100% OF THE QUADRO COMPANY
The acquisition through AGEM of the company QUADRO and its 16 points of sale located mainly in the Paris region allows the CMAI group to strengthen its positions in the custom interior fittings market.
The group thus supplements its know-how thanks to the expertise of QUADRO in the transformation of wood and veneers, but also lacquers and highly personalized solutions for storage, custom made furniture and living spaces.

AN EXEMPLARY CORPORATE REACTION TO A TRAGIC EVENT
On July 2, 2012, the Sogal Establishments saw the Bourg-Lès-Valence plant (26), dedicated to production for their customers in the eastern half of France, disappear in flames, and the means ensuring 40% of their industrial capacity.
In a few days, the entire company and its teams mobilized to guarantee its customers optimal service, before the reconstruction of a new industrial site in the commune of Portes-lès-Valence.
GOVERNANCE TRANSITION AND NEW DEVELOPMENT PLAN
The Sogal group welcomes Qualium Investissement, a subsidiary of Caisse de Dépôts et Consignations, as the majority investor in 2010.
Substantial investments are devoted to the implementation of the company's project aimed in particular at developing its scope of activity by diversifying its ranges of products, services and distribution networks.

Anxious to provide its customers with complementary products, the Sogal group is investing in the furniture business by buying a company specializing in cooking in Gérardmer.
The acquisition of this factory will make possible the development of the flagship offers for fitting out closets and wardrobes that are the Elegance and Excellence ranges, innovative products at the time by their extendable and modular concept simply in width.
THE DISTRIBUTION LANDSCAPE IS CHANGING, SOGAL ADAPTS
The 1980s marked a significant development of DIY large retailers, in line with the evolution of society towards "do it yourself".
Historically established in the professional distribution for craftsmen joiners through wood and materials trading, Sogal decides to diversify its activities by creating specific brands for specialized mass distribution: this is the birth of the Iliko and Ykario brands.
GEORGES GUÉRIN IMPORTS THE SLIDING DOOR CONCEPT INTO EUROPE AND CREATES THE FIRST INDUSTRIAL FRANCHISE IN FRANCE
Returning from a trip across the Atlantic where he discovered the principle of the sliding closet door, at the time standard and in plastic, Georges Guérin sees it as a new way of conceiving storage and the optimization of space. .
By adding a peripheral metal structure to it and deciding to make tailor-made closet doors for home improvement professionals, it will create a new market, and develop it locally.
Building on this local experience, he will deploy his concept through the creation of the first industrial franchise, which will be the basis for the creation of the Sogal group.
